A REFLECTION ON BROTHERHOOD

Showing up is a spiritual practice.

PROVERBS 27:17

It is easy to admire the idea of brotherhood while keeping our real lives at a safe distance. We can attend a gathering, agree with what is said, and still leave without letting anyone know where we are struggling.

Proverbs 27:17 describes one person sharpening another. That kind of growth requires contact. A brother cannot encourage what he never hears about, and he cannot speak truth into a life he is never invited to see.

Showing up means more than being in the room. It means asking how another man is doing and making time for the answer. It means telling the truth about your own week. It means following through when you offered to pray, help, or check in.

None of us becomes mature in Christ by performing strength for one another. We grow as we receive God's grace, open his Word together, and practice faithful friendship over time.

Carry it into the week

Who is one man you can check in with honestly this week? Ask a real question, listen without rushing, and share one thing you need prayer for.

KEEP WALKING

Let the Word shape your next step.
